@shaistajalalhennaartistAn artist at heart and an old soul by nature, Shaista Jalal inherited her love for art and creativity from her father. With nearly two decades in the henna industry, her journey has taken her across countries and cultures, working with destination brides and sharing her art with people around the world.
For 15 years, Shaista has taught at international henna conferences, workshops, and gatherings, connecting with artists from diverse backgrounds and contributing to a global community united by a shared love for this ancient art form. Her work with cancer patients has also shown her the deeply personal ways in which henna can bring comfort, joy, and human connection.
A fashion designer with a deep appreciation for craftsmanship, Shaista is drawn to pure fabrics, intricate embroideries, and heirloom pieces that carry history and character. An old soul with a love for architecture, historic buildings, and different cultures, she finds inspiration in the details that preserve a place’s identity and tell stories across generations. Whether exploring an old street in a faraway country or admiring the artistry of a timeless garment, she is drawn to beauty that holds meaning beyond its appearance.
Having spent years travelling, teaching, and learning alongside artists around the world, Shaista has carried a dream for more than a decade: to bring the global henna community together under one roof. She envisioned a space where artists could slow down, learn deeply, exchange knowledge, and build meaningful friendships beyond geography, style, and competition.
That dream became Henna Beyond Borders — a gathering rooted in shared learning, cultural appreciation, and genuine connection. For Shaista, it is an opportunity to bring together a community that has given her so much and create a space where artists can learn from one another, celebrate their differences, and grow together.
Henna has always crossed borders. Now, I want us to cross them together.
